I was at Lotusphere and asked the developers about this. They were baffled why anyone would want to "print" an envelope. I submitted a request and never did see any changes. This was number one on the boss hit list for a long time. Yes, folks still use snail mail because many customers prefer it for some things...there kinda of important:-)

I have tried this on a few different sizes (A4 etc etc..) and all come out looking nice provided the envelope has roughly the same dimensions as a #10. It is not self aware though. If you print on really large envelopes or really small ones, you could create a new form for each size. Just make a copy of the form from the forms view in designer and then paste into the same view. You will get a new form called "Copy of..." Open that form, rename it appropriately, then change the spacing (size of the tables) for the address and return address to match the envelop size. You could then add a form selection option to the print button.

All that said, it is a little bit of leg work considering there is a free alternative out there (Integra for Notes Personal Edition) that John de Giorgio has brought to our attention. I am hoping to download it this week, test and then update my blog entry with my findings, but from what I can see from their website it looks like it just may be what the doctor ordered!! Check out John's Comment for this Blog entry and let us all know what you think.

Thank you for your comments Keith

The Free (yes Free) Integra for Notes Personal Edition is designed to provide various export and import capabilities between the Lotus Notes Personal Address Book and Word and Excel.

Shipping free is a label printing capability which integrates with Word's Mail Merge Labels functionality, mail merge letters, e-mail shots, exports to Excel, imports from Outlook Contacts etc.

One of the main advantages of this approach is that you do not have to make any design changes to your address book. Integra is non-intrusive. Check it out at { Link }
